How OSRS Range DPS Calc Works
To use the OSRS Range DPS Calc, enter your Ranged level, gear bonuses, prayer, style and attack speed, plus the monster’s defence and Hitpoints, then read your damage per second (DPS).
- Enter your visible Ranged level, ranged attack bonus and ranged strength bonus.
- Pick your ranged prayer and attack style.
- Enter your real attack interval in game ticks.
- Enter the monster’s Defence level, ranged defence bonus and Hitpoints.
- Read the DPS, max hit, accuracy and ideal time to deal the monster’s Hitpoints.
OSRS Range DPS Calc Formula
The OSRS Range DPS Calc formula is DPS = hit chance × average hit ÷ (attack ticks × 0.6 seconds).
Max hit = ⌊0.5 + (⌊Ranged × strength prayer⌋ + style + 8) × (ranged strength + 64) ÷ 640⌋
Attack roll = (⌊Ranged × accuracy prayer⌋ + style + 8) × (ranged attack + 64)
Defence roll = (monster Defence + 9) × (ranged defence + 64)
DPS = hit chance × (max hit ÷ 2 + 1 ÷ (max hit + 1)) ÷ (ticks × 0.6)
- Rigour gives 1.20 accuracy and 1.23 damage; Eagle Eye gives 1.15 to both.
- Hit chance uses the standard attack roll against defence roll comparison.
- Ideal kill time = monster Hitpoints ÷ DPS, without overkill or movement.
OSRS Range DPS Calc FAQ
What is a good ranged DPS in OSRS?
A ranged DPS of 5 to 8 is strong for most mid-level monsters. Top gear against low-defence bosses goes higher.
Does rapid style increase ranged DPS?
Yes, rapid usually increases ranged DPS by cutting 1 tick (0.6 seconds) from each attack, which outweighs the 3 effective levels lost from accurate.
Which defence bonus does ranged use?
Ranged uses the monster’s ranged defence for your ammunition type: light, standard or heavy. Darts use light, arrows use standard and bolts use heavy.
Why is the kill time an ideal value?
The kill time is ideal: the calculator ignores overkill, movement, special mechanics and missed attack cycles. Real kills take longer.
